Grote verkeersgebeurtenissen, of MTE's, zijn grootschalige gebeurtenissen met bijbehorende weg [[Closures|afsluitingen]]. Een MTE heeft een <i>duidelijke naam</i>. MTE's kunnen sportevenementen zijn (marathons, triatlons, enz.), festivals, parades, belangrijke bouwwerkzaamheden of zelfs (natuur)rampen zoals overstromingen (bijv. Afsluiting van snelwegen of belangrijke [[Tunnel|tunnels]]), VIP-bezoeken, enz. <br />
